A delegation from the Shanghai Jiaotong University (SJTU), China visited the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) on 15 October 2013 and expressed its desire to engage with AIT in joint academic and research programs. Led by Prof. Zongguang Wang, Honorary Chairperson of the University Council, the delegation also invited AIT to participate in a conference on Information Technology to be held earlier next year.

On a study trip to Thailand last week, a large group of students and faculty from China’s prestigious Zhejiang University made it a point to visit AIT to learn about academic opportunities at the School of Management (SOM).

On 30 September 2013, Interim President Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai appointed the following AIT faculty members to serve as Interim Deans effective from 1 October 2013: Professor Voratas Kachitvichyanukul: Dean of School of Engineering and Technology (SET); Professor C. Visvanathan, Dean of School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD); and Dr. Donyaprueth Krairit, Dean of School of Management (SOM).

It’s not every day that budding AIT MBAs get invited to the boardroom of one of Thailand’s largest corporations to dialogue with its Chief Executive Officer. But for three AIT School of Management students awarded full scholarships by Berli Jucker Co. Ltd. – that is exactly what happened on 1 October 2013.

Dr. Subin Pinkayan of Thailand was elected as the 9th Chairman of the AIT Board of Trustees at its meeting on 4 October 2013. Dr. Subin is a member of the first AIT graduating class of 1961, and in 2010 he was inducted into the AIT Hall of Fame.

The Asian Institute of Technology and the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology, Information Technology Research Institute (ITRI/AIST), Japan, have agreed to a five-year academic and research partnership in the field of information and communications technology (ICT).

A pair of AIT robotic exoskeletons displayed at the Thailand Innovation and Trade Expo 2013 caught the eye Thailand Prime Minister HE Yingluck Shinawatra, who stopped by the AIT exhibit while touring the exposition held at BITEC Bangna in Bangkok on September 25-29.

Eight doctoral students from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) presented their research at the “Smart Grid and Renewable Energy” conference organized by AIT and the Energy Planning and Policy Office (EPPO), Ministry of Energy on 19 September 2013.

The “AIT Dinner Talk” by alumnus Dr. Prasarn Trairatvorakul on 25 September 2013 drew dignitaries from the government, corporate sector, academia and the media who packed a downtown Bangkok ballroom to listen to the Governor of Bank of Thailand (BOT) speak on the “Global Financial System and Challenges to Thailand.”
