Jönköping University delegation visits AIT, ‘Sweden Day’ celebrated

 

Visiting AIT were Dr. Mats Jagstam, Dean of Engineering; Dr. Kaj
Granath, Head of Civil Engineering; and Dr. Ingrid Wadskog, Head of
Industrial Engineering; and Dr. Roy Andersson, Program Director.
Jönköping University has a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with AIT’s
School of Engineering and Technology (SET), and Jönköping University
students are enrolled in AIT as exchange students.

Meeting with Prof. Sivanappan Kumar Vice President for Academic
Affairs, AIT, Dr. Mats Jagstam revealed that Jönköping University is
actively seeking partners in Asia. Jönköping is already well-known for
its internationality since 12 per cent of its 12,000 students are from
outside Sweden. The University was established in 1977 as a government
university, and in 1994 it became of the first in Sweden to become a
private university. The University’s focus area is industrial products,
and it is supported in this endeavor by 300 companies.

Prof. Kumar, while welcoming the delegation, stated that AIT is
already offering dual-degree and joint-degree programs along with
partner universities. He mentioned that AIT has exchange programs with
European universities, and it looks forward towards tapping into
Jönköping’s industry network. Dr. Gabrielle Groves, Head, External
Relations and Communications Office (ERCO) also attended the meeting.
Later, the delegation visited AIT’s School of Engineering and
Technology (AIT).

In the evening, a football match between the AIT team and Jönköping
University ended with the visitors winning by three goals to one. An
open-air quiz, with questions positioned at various vantage points in
the AIT campus was followed by a sampling of Swedish cuisine.
