AIT invited to join China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week

Inviting AIT was a delegation of officials from the China-ASEAN Center
and the organizing committee of the China-ASEAN Education Week. Led by
Mr. Liu Baoli, Secretary-General, ASEAN China Education Summit, and
former member of the AIT Board of Trustees, the delegation visited AIT
on 22 October 2014.

Mr. Baoli stated that he was confident that many universities in China
will be willing to partner in AIT. The Education Week will help also
AIT know the needs of Universities in China, he said adding that 
AIT can participate in both the University President’s Forum and the
Meeting of University officials.

The delegation, which was visiting Bangkok to attend the Southeast
Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) Conference, stated
that close to 300 agreements had been signed between China and various
ASEAN Universities.

Also attending the meeting were Mr. Gong Ning, Vice Director-General,
Education Department of Guizhou province, People’s Republic of China;
Mr. Wang Daoyu, Vice Director, Division of Tourism, Culture and
Education, ASEAN China Centre;
and Mr.Jia Haibo.

Prof. Sivanappan Kumar, Vice President for Academic Affairs, AIT,
highlighted the cooperation between AIT and China. He also sought the
cooperation of provincial authorities in China to help promote AIT.
Prof. Voratas Kachitvichyanukul, Dean, School of Engineering and
Technology (SET); Prof. Visvanathan Chettiyappan, Dean, School of
Environment, Resources and Development (SERD); and Dr. Donyaprueth
Krairit, Dean, School of Management; Ms. Wannapa Pliansri, Coordinator,
Royal Thai Government; Ms. Zhu Wei and Ms. Jin Ying, Lecturers; and Mr.
Qi Xinjian and Mr. Aishajiang Aili, AIT doctoral students from China,
also attended the meeting.
