Both students were recipients of best paper award and travel grants
following a call for submission of papers under the category of 'Water
management under the climate uncertainty'.
While Mr. Aung presented his paper on "Uncertainties in SWAT extreme
flow simulation under climate change of the Bago River Basin in
Myanmar," Mr. Putu presented his findings on "Climate change impacts on
hydrology and rice production in Northeast of Thailand". Both are
students of Dr. Sangam Shrestha, Associate Professor in Water
Engineering and Management (WEM) field of study at AIT’s School of
Engineering and Technology.
AIT also organized a workshop on “Water Energy Food Nexus:
International Cooperation and Technology Transfer” on 18 March, 2015 in
Paris as a side event at STI Days. Seven papers on ' water energy food
nexus' were presented by researchers from ASEAN and the European Union.
Participants from AIT included Dr. Sangam Shrestha, Dr. Anil Kumar
Anal, Dr. P. Abdul Salam.
The ASEAN-EU STI Days brings together researchers, scientists, science
policy makers, companies, and other stakeholders from ASEAN and EU
countries for a yearly three-day conference on science, technology, and
innovation issues and bi-regional cooperation in these fields. The
ASEAN-EU STI Days are supported and implemented by the EU funded
SEA-EU-NET II project. The event is hosted by the Centre national de la
recherche scientifique (CNRS), France.
