Watching the earthquake disaster unfold back home, six Nepalese Undergraduates and one Nepalese Master’s student felt compelled to help their crippled homeland. But how? They are in Thailand, far from home, and their studies beckon.

Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN) has described the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) as a “key consortium partner.”

As the AIT Library Modernization gathers momentum, AIT alumnus Mr. Pit Teong (Pote) Lee, who graduated in 1974 with a M.Eng degree in Water Resources Engineering, is an invaluable ally.

On 24 April 2015, Dr. Verapong Chaiperm (D.Eng ’91), Governor of Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT), along with Deputy Governor Ms. Srivanik Hasdin, and his Advisor, Mr. Manat Supasiriluk (GTE ’90), visited AIT to make a substantial donation to the ongoing AIT Library Modernization Campaign.

Dean of AIT’s School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD), Prof. C. Visvanathan has been the subject of a full-page feature interview published by the Daily Financial Times, Sri Lanka.

Mr. Tan Chin Nyan, an alumnus of Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) has donated one million Baht towards the AIT Library Modernization campaign. A student of Structural Engineering and Construction (SERC), Mr. Tan Chin Nyan completed his Master’s from AIT in 1986.

Academic output in Thailand is comparable with the average global output, but neighbouring countries like Malaysia have overtaken Thailand in their academic output and impact. Sharing this and other aspects of research was Alexander van Servelle, Consultant, Elsevier Research Management, while delivering a talk at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) on 9 April 2015.
