AIT Career Fair attracts 35 companies

AIT Career Fair attracts 35 companies
The January Semester edition of the
bi-annual event organized by the AIT Career Center attracted 35
companies looking to hire new staff and fill openings for
internships.

A high volume of current AIT students attended throughout the day,
meeting the recruiters face-to-face, presenting their CVs, filling out
applications and perusing a number of employment options.

Calling the event one of the most important activities on the campus
calendar, AIT Vice President for Academic Affairs Prof. S. Kumar
welcomed all the participating companies, and thanked the
representatives for recruiting at AIT. Vice President for Resources
Development Prof. Kazuo Yamamoto was also on hand to present gifts of
appreciation to all participating companies’ representatives.

In his opening remarks Prof. Kumar stressed the numerous advantages
AIT graduates can offer employers, such as AIT grads’ high-end
technical skills, English-language fluency and Asian cross-cultural
awareness. The institute’s internationality, as reflected by its
students, is a key strength that companies can take advantage of when
hiring new staff, he said.

Seventeen firms participated at the fair for the first time, joining
18 companies returning from last year, said main organizer Carla S.
Gonzales, Coordinator, Career Center. A large contingent of 37 student
volunteers provided key logistical support to the event by individually
assisting the numerous corporate visitors for the day-long
fair.

A key side event was an AIT Student Union-organized research
exhibition, which showcased prototypes and posters on participating
students’ research. A total of 15 students publically displayed their
academic work to the public.
