Expert shares analysis of academic publication output and impact

Describing data, expert opinion and external reviews as the three
vertices, Mr. Servelle remarked that this triangulation could help
arrive at a strategy for research planning. This approach could help
analyze research outputs and provide insights to academicians to arrive
at conclusions.

Presenting SciVal, which is Elsevier’s research intelligence tools,
Mr. Servelle presented various aspects of academic output of
institutions in Thailand and compared them across various parameters.
“It clearly shows that academic output from Malaysia shot from 2008
onwards, when the government increased its funding to academic and
research institutions from 0.6 per cent to over 1 per cent of its
GDP.”

Earlier Dr. Jonathan Shaw, Executive Director, AIT Extension welcomed
Mr. Servelle.
