Dr. Rajendra Shrestha Promoted to Full Professor
In an email announcement, AIT
President Prof. Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai warmly congratulated Professor
Shrestha on this promotion in recognition of his significant
contributions to his field.

A native of Nepal, Dr. Shrestha joined the Asian Institute of
Technology (AIT) in 2003 as an Assistant Professor in the Natural
Resource Management (NRM) field of study at the AIT School of
Environment, Resources and Development (SERD).

He obtained both his Doctor of Technical Science (Natural Resources
Management) and Master of Science (Natural Resources Planning and
Management) degrees from the Asian Institute of Technology in 1999 and
1993, respectively. He graduated with honors from his Bachelor of
Science degree program in Agriculture from Haryana Agriculture
University, Hisar, India in 1984.

Dr. Shrestha’s research encompasses the areas of land use and climate
change, land use planning and sustainable land management, natural
resources degradation and environmental indicators, poverty alleviation
and livelihood, and GIS/RS applications and geoinformation in
decision-making.

Dr. Shrestha’s promotion case was considered following the process
specified in the Policy and Procedure (P&P) Statement on the
Procedure for Evaluation of Faculty for Promotion (PA-1-2-2).
