Mr. Adthaporn Singhawichai, an alumnus of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) has been appointed as Governor of Surin province, which is located in the North eastern region of Thailand bordering Cambodia. A graduate of Human Settlements and Development, Mr. Adthaporn completed his Master’s of Science from AIT in 1987. He assumed duties as Governor from 1 October 2015.
Prior to being appointed Governor, Uttaporn was serving as Deputy Director General of Community Development Department in the Ministry of Interior. He has also worked as Director of the Bureau of Prevention; Director of Research and International Cooperation; Director of Policy, Prevention and Mitigation; Secretary, Department of Disaster Prevention
and Mitigation; and Deputy Director of Defense.
Mr. Uttaporn completed his Bachelor’s in Political Science (Major in Public Finance) from Chulalongkorn University in 1982. For his Master's, he specialized in Regional and Rural Development Planning.
