Congratulating the students on joining AIT, President Worsak
Kanok-Nukulchai stated that the new batch of students forms the largest
cohort over the last five years.
The new batch of students comes from Asia, Africa, Europe, Oceania and
the Americas. Eight countries from Africa (Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya,
Malawi, Nigeria, Sudan, and Uganda); five from Europe (Belgium,
Finland, France, Germany, and Portugal); and a lone entry from Oceania
(Fiji) and Americas (Trinidad and Tobago) complement 17 countries from
Asia to form AIT’s latest batch of students. Thai students form the
largest group of students, followed by Myanmar, Sri Lanka, India, and
Nepal. Forty-percent of the admitted students are females.
“Four-hundred and seventy three students have already confirmed, and
more students will be joining soon,” the AIT President said. He added
that AIT is platform for grooming global citizens, and students can
look forward towards creating a network or friends that will last a
lifetime.
President Worsak described six key characteristics of AIT —
international perspective, regional orientation, multidisciplinary
approach, cross-national solutions, relevant research, and politically
neutral. He also postulated the five “5 I’s” of AIT, namely
innovation, international perspective, integration, industrial
partnership and information technology. (His presentation is available

Most students are joining the School of Engineering and Technology
(SET), followed by School of Environment, Resources and Development
(SERD), and the School of Management (SOM). Eighty percent of the
students are will pursue their Master’s degree at AIT.
Students were also welcomed by Vice Presidents, Deans and the AIT
Student Union. They were also informed of AIT’s Academic Regulations,
Services and Facilities, Scholarships and Invoicing, Language Center
Services and English Language Requirements, Academic Requirements and
Practices, Career Center and Student Welfare, IT Services, Visa and
Institute Facilities, Campus-wide IT Services and Policies, Educational
Visa and Government Relations Services and Facilities Management.
