AIT to launch International Double Degree Master’s Program with University of Oulu

AIT will launch an international double degree Master’s program in Wireless Communications Engineering with the University of Oulu (UOulu), Finland. The agreement to launch the program was finalized during the visit of Ms. Hanna Saarela, Development Manager, Centre for Wireless Communications, University of Oulu, Finland, during her visit to AIT on 19 December 2017.

The cooperation agreement between AIT and UOulu has been signed by Dr. Helka-Liisa Hentila, Vice-Rector, and Prof.

AIT signs MoU with Bhutan Power Corporation

The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Bhutan Power Corporation Limited (BPC) to support BPC employees to earn a Master’s degree at AIT. The MoU was signed on 11 December 2017 by BPC Managing Director Mr. Gem Tshering and AIT President Prof.

Experts Stress the Importance of mainstreaming Disaster Risk Reduction in Education

Disasters, risk and resilience need to be brought into curriculum at various levels of education, and different disciplines should integrated them within the education system. This was the dominant theme of the two-day conference on “Mainstreaming Resilience and Disaster Risk Reduction in Education” organized at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) on 1-2 December 2017.

Delivering the opening remark, Mr. Bernard Philip, Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Australia to Thailand spoke about the importance of concerted global action by the civil society, academia and the private sector in tackling emerging challenges.

Dr Krishna R Salin promoted to the rank of Associate Professor

Dr Krishna R Salin has been promoted to the rank of Associate Professor in AIT’s School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD). His promotion was announced by AIT President Prof. Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai on 6 December 2017 following the recommendations of the Faculty Evaluation Panel (FEP) and the SERD Professorial Board.

AIT to co-host Women’s International Cricket Matches

The cricket grounds of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) will host seven women’s international cricket matches beginning 20 November 2017. Along with the Terdthai Cricket Ground in Bangkok, these two grounds will be the joint hosts in Thailand as six Asian teams clash for a place  in the ICC Women’s World T20 Qualifier to be held in Netherlands in June 2018 .

China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Nepal, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are competing in the round-robin league in Thailand, and the top two teams from this tournament will play in The Netherlands.
