Fourteen students from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) were among those who received certificates on the occasion of the sixtieth-anniversary celebrations of the German Academic Exchange Service-Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) held on 10 September 2017.
The students, who hailed from Cambodia, Myanmar, and Vietnam were honored by Dr. Dorothea Rüland, Secretary-General, DAAD, in the presence of the Ambassador of Germany to Thailand H.E. Mr.Peter Prügel.
Out of the 16 DAAD scholarship recipients in AIT, two students are currently on an exchange program in Germany and they were unable to attend the event. The 14 students are Ms. Su Kyaw, Ma Aye Hlaing, Ms. Yu Kyaw, Ms. Khin Htay, Ms. Han Soe, Ms. Hnin Win, Mr. Phyo Oo, Ms. Kay Kyaw and Ms. Thet Yee (from Myanmar); Mr. Tong Menghour, Mr. Thaileng Thol, Mr. Sean Chanmony, and Mr. Seng Theara (from Cambodia) and Ms. Truong Huyen from Vietnam. Miss Kry Sokna and Mr. Hok Panha from Cambodia are currently on an exchange program in Germany.
DAAD Thailand celebrated its 60th Anniversary along with the Association of former Thai students in Germany ( Der Verein der ehemaligen Studenten in Deutschland – VTD ), who celebrated their 50th Anniversary by organizing an alumni event and panel discussion on the topic “Thailand 4.0 – Through the eyes of Germany Alumni.”
AIT was represented by Mr. Shawn Kelly, Director, Office of External Relations; and Dr. Tenzin Rabgyal, Coordinator, Admissions and Scholarships Unit attended the celebrations.
