Dr. Shrestha joined AIT as an Assistant Professor in the School of Engineering and Technology (SET) in November 2009 and was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor in 2015. He obtained his PhD in Integrated River Basin Management from the University of Yamanashi, Japan in 2007 and his M.Sc. in Integrated Water Resources Management from AIT in 2004.
Dr. Shrestha also earned his Master of Science (Agriculture) degree from the Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science, Tribhuvan University, Nepal in 2002. In 2013, he acquired a Diploma in Connection and Flows: Water, Energy and Digital Information in the Global South, from Brown University, USA.
Dr. Shrestha´s research encompasses the areas of water resources assessment and management; climate change and land use change impact assessment on hydrology and water resources; climate change impact assessment on water use sectors (irrigation, hydropower); evaluation of hydrologic and water quality models; groundwater vulnerability and sustainability assessment.
