AIT received a large number of donations to support the creation of 18 Smart Modified Classrooms (SMCs) which are being used to deliver the Hybrid Instruction System in the Fall 2020 semester to both on-campus and online students. The system will be used also in the future as AIT incorporates more innovation into its teaching.
AIT President Eden Woon said: “These SMCs ensure that online students can fully interact with their in-class students and faculty regardless of their location, thereby delivering as near a face-to-face experience as possible. This is particularly urgent this semester as many of our overseas students are unable to travel to Thailand on time because of Covid-19 restrictions. But beyond this semester, these rooms will also be extremely useful as we gradually incorporate more innovation into our teaching. These SMCs allow us to be more flexible to delivering instruction in both academic and continuing education programs. We are very grateful to our donors who have been so generous to AIT at this Covid-19 crisis time. Their timely contribution is helping AIT provide quality education ‘without missing a beat.’ ”
Within 6 weeks of launching this campaign, AIT received a tremendous response from alumni and friends, and achieved its target of finding sponsorship for every one of the 18 SMC's. Their generosity are marked by plaques at the doors of the rooms they helped create. We would like to acknowledge and express our gratitude to the following donors for their generous support to the Institute for the SMC campaign.
