AIT, Van Lang University, Vietnam ink agreements to launch International Bachelor’s-Master’s Unified Program and PhD Scholars Program

Two months after signing a general Memorandum of Understanding, AIT and Vietnam’s Van Lang University (VLU) on 30 September 2020 signed two specific cooperation agreements for VLU to send faculty to earn Doctoral degrees at AIT, and to join the International Bachelor’s-Master’s Unified Program.

AIT President Dr. Eden Woon signed the Memorandum of Agreements at a virtual signing ceremony with VLU President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi My Dieu and Dr. Nguyen Cao Tri, Chair of the University’s Council.

The online ceremony connected the two institutions from Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh City. Mr. Nguyen Tien Cuong, First Secretary of the Embassy of Vietnam to Thailand, joined the event in Thailand and expressed his satisfaction for the growing international academic partnership that is connecting the two institutions and countries.

The event at VLU was attended by key administration and faculty members, and attracted over 300 undergraduate students who witnessed the signing in the university’s auditorium and learned about the Unified Program at a post-event information session.

The Unified Program will be coordinated by the AIT Office of Special Degree Programs, in association with the AIT Center in Vietnam (AITCV). VLU will offer undergraduate programs in Faculty of Technology, Faculty of Information Technology, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Finance and Banking, Faculty of Commerce and Faculty of Business Administration. Twenty-plus Master’s specializations are available for students from the AIT’s School of Engineering and Technology, School of Environment Resources and Development and School of Management. Students joining the program will have a chance to complete two degrees – a Bachelor’s from VLU and Master’s degree from AIT – in 5 years. A special provision allows current undergraduate students of VLU to join the program in January 2021.
