According to a paper recently published by Stanford University researchers, seven AIT faculty members are amongst the world’s top 2% scientists based on career-wide scientific impact to respective sub-disciplines. Three faculty members – Prof. Dung Phan Minh, Prof. C. Visvanathan and Prof. Shobhakar Dhakal – placed in the top 1% of the global scientific community.
The study is published in PLOS BiologyJournal. The findings are based on an extensive database of standardized citation metrics across all scientists and scientific disciplines from the Scopus, assessing scientists from across the world for research carried out during their entire academic career up to the end of 2019. The global table evaluates indicators such as citations, H-index, co-authorship and a composite indicator.
The seven members of the AIT faculty included on the list are Prof. Phan Minh Dung (Artificial Intelligence & Image Processing), Prof. C. Visvanathan (Environmental Sciences), Prof. Dennes T. Bergado (Geological & Geomatics Engineering), Prof. Shobhakar Dhakal (Energy), Prof Weerakorn Ongsakul (Energy), Prof. Ram M. Shrestha (Energy) and Prof. Sivanappan Kumar (Energy).
This year, the list was expanded to cover the top 2% of scientists in their respective sub-disciplines in addition to the top 100,000 across all fields in the previous edition.
Four more AIT faculty researchers listed in the world’s top 2% scientists for 2019
In addition, four more AIT faculty members appear in the top 2% list of scientists for research impact based on the most recent single year (2019) achievement. These scientists are Prof. Peter Edwards (Fisheries), Prof. Anil Kumar Anal (Food Science), Prof. Sangam Shrestha (Engineering), and Prof. Mukand S. Babel (Engineering).
