In her early 30s, May Sabe Phyu was working with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) as a Health Education Specialist. She had travelled along Myanmar’s borders and visited many villages in remote rural areas.
She noticed that the majority of those people were living in poverty with no transportation or communication, and most importantly, they were living amidst extreme gender inequality and still practicing various forms of gender discrimination.

Mechatronics specialists at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) are working on a new project on ‘Sensor Signal Processing and Control Unit for Laser Guided Vehicle’ that manufactures a control box which can be installed on any type of manual forklifts to convert them into autonomous, driverless forklifts.

Since January of 2020, the Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis has spread across the world. The situation in Thailand was very stable for several months in Summer and Fall, but new outbreaks started in late December.
The Hult Prize is an annual, year-long competition for university students around the world that challenges on campus teams to solve social issues such as food security, water access, energy, and education. It is home to the world’s largest college and university network for social impact and offers a US$1 million prize to help the winning team launch a social enterprise.

Associate Professor Dr. Kunnawee Kanitpong, director of the Thailand Accident Research Center (TARC) and faculty member in the Transportation Engineering program at the Asian Institute of Technology, advises holidaymakers in Thailand to avoid speeding during and after New Year’s.
Studies by TARC show that the maximum safe speed for motorcycles is 80 km/h, while cars should maintain a speed of 100 km/h or lower on the nation’s highways.
