Dr. John D. Nelson, former Vice Chairman of the AIT Board of Trustees and Principal Engineer of Engineering Analytics, Inc., USA has donated USD 50,000 towards upgrading the Geotechnical Engineering Laboratory at the Geotechnical & Earth Resources Engineering (GTE), School of Engineering & Technology. In addition, a certain portion of the funds will be used for education and research purposes relating to Geotechnical Engineering in support of the dual degree program between AIT and the Colorado State University (CSU).
President Woon remarked that AIT student’s quality research output is very much dependent on having good laboratory facilities. With this donation, the GTE students will be able to conduct their research using more efficient laboratories leading to higher quality research output and the opportunity for a dual degree program at one of the top tier Universities in USA. The donation is recognized by naming a particular piece of equipment under the name John D. and Darlene M. Nelson.
AIT President Dr. Eden Woon expressed his appreciation and sincere thanks to Dr. John D. and Darlene M. Nelson for their longstanding association, which began in 1968 and their contributions and continued support to the Institute is gratefully acknowledged.
