Indonesia’s Duta Wacana Christian University eyes AIT for partnership

 
Dr. Henri Feriadi, Vice Rector for Partnership and Institutional
Development, and Dr. Wimmie Handiwidjojo, Dean, Faculty of Information
Technology, met with AIT officials to explore collaboration on dual and
joint degree programs, undergraduate student exchanges, and
professional upgrade of its lecturers through AIT doctoral programs in
Information and Communications.

Welcomed by Mr. Ahmed Amjad Ali, Head, External Relations and
Communications Office, the delegation also met with Asst. Prof. Dr.
Raphael Duboz, Computer Science field of study, School of Engineering
and Technology; Ms. Sumana Shrestha, Program Officer, ERCO; and Ms.
Tripthi  Rabjbhandari, Program Officer, School of Engineering and
Technology (SET).

The officials introduced their growing private university located in
Yogyjakarta. Established in 1986, it currently has an enrollment of
approximately 4000 students, half of whom study in the Department of
Informatics and Department of Information System.

Dr. Handiwidjojo stated that Duta Wacana Christian University is keen
to establish undergraduate dual degree programs with selective partner
universities in Asia, such as AIT. Mr. Ali said various academic
options might be considered, and that AIT would study a 1+2+1 four-year
formulation for undergraduate level student exchange and learning
programs.

Dr. Feriadi explained the university’s effort to boost the academic
qualifications of approximately 45 lecturers of the Faculty of
Information Technology to a doctoral level. He added that his
university would also be interested in pursuing discussions with the
AIT School of Management on MBA programs.

AIT is highly open to collaboration with Duta Wacana Christian
University, Mr. Ali said, expressing his hope that both sides could
agree on modalities for signing a memorandum of understanding and a
memorandum of agreement in the near future.
