Making her maiden visit to AIT on 9 August 2013 while accompanying
former President of the Philippines Fidel V. Ramos on a courtesy visit
to the campus, the ambassador said she was working as a member of the
AIT Board of Trustees to improve the situation for
Philippine nationals who currently study and work at AIT.
“We are all working to move AIT forward,” Ambassador
Batoon-Garcia told faculty and staff from the Philippines.
Interim AIT President Prof. Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai along with
Professor Emeritus Dr. Sahas Bunditkul, member of AIT Executive
Committee, welcomed the ambassador to the campus for the first time.
Dr. Sahas is the former Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand.
Expressing his thanks on behalf of AIT, President Worsak asked
the ambassador for the support of the Government of the Philippines to
find a way for more Filipino students to attend AIT through fellowships
and scholarships.
Ambassador Batoon-Garcia was accompanied on her visit by Mr. Edgar B.
Badajos, Minister and Consul General, Embassy of the Philippines,
Bangkok.
