“The AIT team topped the league in the round robin and has now reached
the finals,” Mr. Hadi Hassan Khan, the Captain of the AIT Cricket Team
revealed. He added that the AIT Cricket Team is one of the top three
teams in Thailand and had won the ‘A’ division in 2010-2011, while
during 2011-2012 it had reached the semi-final of the Premier Division.
Out of the 11 matches played this season, the AIT team has won eight
and lost three, and with 165.66 points, it tops the league tables.
Some outstanding performances by AIT players have helped AIT reach
this position. During this season, the only century scorer in the ‘A’
divison was an AIT student, Mr. Babrak Ali Panezai. He also maintains
the highest batting average in the league; while during the last season
his score of 94 not out was the highest score. Another AIT player Mr.
Muhammad Shafiq has won four “Man of the Match” awards this season. AIT
also boasts of the highest wicket taker in its captain Mr. Hadi Hassan
Khan, and the highest run scorer in Mr. MUhammad Shafiq. Mr. Anuj
Shreshtha, Mr. Farhad Zulfiqar, Mr. Niraj Rajeev Sinha, Mr.
Lahriu Maneesha, Mr. Shah Alam Suman, Mr. Shankar Sherstha and Mr.
Manoj Kumar have also made significant contributions to the team’s
success, the team captain added.
The AIT team has always been an international team with players from
India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Australia playing an
active role. At present it has 52 registered members. Preparing for the
finals, the AIT Cricket Team is commencing on its net practice from 11
September 2013.
