Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn honored Prof. Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai, AIT’s Interim President at the research exhibition organized by the Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy (CRMA) on 13 December 2013. At an elaborate ceremony, HRH Sirindhorn bestowed a token of appreciation to the Asian Institute of Technology for its contribution to the prestigious event.
HRH Princess Sirindhorn spent considerable time at the AIT exhibit at the CRMA Exhibition where she interacted with Prof. Worsak and inquired about AIT. Prof. Worsak welcomed the Princess and informed her about developments at AIT. The Princess evinced interest in the AIT poster presentations, and took notes at the AIT exhibits. Prof. Worsak along
with Dr. Donyaprueth Krairit, Interim Dean, School of Management also presented a publication titled “Developing a new generation of leaders” on the ProSPER.Net project, which has been brought out by the United Nations University (UNU) and AIT.
The two-day exhibition concluded on 13 December at the CRMA campus. The exhibition is aimed at displaying research activities undertaken by CRMA students and faculty and the collaborative research undertaken between CRMA and other institutions.
AIT’s work, which was on display at the CRMA exhibition included work on the urban fire and risk zones in Nong Chok District, Bangkok; Cassava and sugarcane modeling and crop substitution in Kamphaneg-Phet province of Thailand; Development of tourist’s external information search behavior model in Thailand; Sustainable urban tourism through low carbon initiatives from Hue and Chiang Mai; Water resource management in coastal Southeast Asia; Partnership for enhanced engagement in research; Assessment of impacts of emission reduction on air quality and climate in Southeast Asia; Capacity strengthening on hazardous chemicals; sustainable business and social responsibility
course development.
The AIT delegation team was led by Prof. Worsak, and it included Dr. Donyaprueth Krairit; Ms. Wannapa Plainsri, Coordinator, Royal Thai Government Relations, External Relations and Communications Office (ERCO); Ms. Wilailuk Yooprem, Administrative Officer, ERCO; and four student volunteers.
