Professor Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai

Prof. Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai has been bestowed with the title of Professor Emeritus. This was approved at the meeting of the AIT Board of Trustees held on 30 August 2018.

Prof. Worsak joined AIT as an Assistant Professor in December 1978, and he was promoted to the position of Associate Professor in 1982, and as Professor in 1989.

Prof. Worsak completed his Bachelor’s in Engineering (with Honors) from Chulalongkorn University, Thailand; and his Master’s in Engineering from AIT in 1973. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, California, USA in 1978.

Prof. Worsak has served at AIT as a faculty member for 40 years, and as a Professor for 29 years. He has served as Dean, School of Engineering and  Technology (Nov ’05-Aug ’09), Vice President for Resource Development (Aug’09-Jun’13), Interim President (July‘13-‘July ‘14), and as AIT President (July ‘14-‘Aug.‘18).

His publication record includes 50 refereed journal articles, 2 books, 2 book chapters, 117 conference papers, 14 papers in conference proceedings.

Prof. Worsak has received a number of awards which include amongst others, “Fellow of the International Association of Computational Mechanics (IACM)” at its 2006 World Congress in Los Angeles, USA., the Fumio Nishino Medal, which is the highest award given by the East Asia Pacific Conferences on Structural Engineering and Construction (EASEC),for his outstanding contribution through research, development and professional practice, and for upholding professional integrity well recognized in the Asia-Pacific region”, and the Royal Decoration of the Companion of the Most Admirable Order of Direkgunabhorn (4th class) by H.M. King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
