AIT is a very strong partner: JAXA

Dr. Homma stated that he had visited AIT three years ago and he was
very impressed with the institute. “Our association with AIT is not
restricted to capacity building and education alone, since AIT’s
contribution extends to substantive issues,” Dr. Homma said. JAXA has a long and fruitful
relationship while working together with AIT and this will be
strengthened, he added. Talking about latest JAXA ventures, Dr. Homma
revealed that an unmanned Japanese space ship has already reached the
International Space Station (ISS) and it would be docking with ISS on
28 January 2011.

Prof. Said Irandoust, President, AIT, while welcoming Dr. Homma, said
AIT was grateful that JAXA had been a long term partner and supporter
of AIT. “Continuity in our collaboration with JAXA is admirable and we
value the long haul partnership,” Prof. Irandoust said.

Dr. Homma was accompanied by Mr. Shinichi Mizumoto, Director, JAXA
Bangkok Office. Dr. Lal Samarakoon, Director, Geo Informatics Center
(GIC) at AIT; Dr. Nitin Kumar Tripathi, Coordinator, Remote Sensing and
