This was stated by Dr. Jagdish Gulati, President, UGI during their visit to AIT
on 1 February 2011. Dr. Gulati also suggested collaboration in offering
joint programs between AIT and the United Group at their campuses in
India. Dr. Gulati stated that following the MOU signed by the two
institutes in December 2010, United group is planning student and
faculty visits, apart from proposing joint degree and executive
development programs.
Dr. A.B.Samaddar, Advisor, UGI said that the students who will study
at AIT will be selected on the basis of their academic record and
personal interview. He suggested joint research collaboration and
consultancy projects between the two institutions. Mr. Gaurav Gulati,
Assistant Director, UGI, stated that UGI has two campuses in India, one
at Allahabad and another in Nodia, Delhi National Capital Region. UGI
offers both Bachelor’s and Master’s in engineering and management,
apart from many other disciplines. UGI is also the recipient of the
Technical/Engineering Education Quality Improvement Project (
TEQIP), supported by the World Bank, which will be used for faculty
training and academic offerings. The UGI delegation also included Mr.
Satpal Gulati, Vice Chairman, UGI.
Prof. Said Irandoust, President, AIT, while welcoming the delegation
stated that he was impressed by their mission of human resource
development in India, and was looking forward towards enhancing their
partnership. The UGI delegation also met Dr. Jonathan Shaw, Director,
AIT Extension; Dr. Nitin Kumar Tripathi, Coordinator, Remote Sensing
and Geographic Information Systems (RS-GIS) program at the School of
Engineering and Technology (SET); Dr. Mokbul Morshed Ahmad, Associate
Dean, School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD); Dr.
Supasith Chonglerttham, Senior Instructor, School of Management (SOM);
Vickrant Gurung, Program Associate, SOM; Dr. Pritam Krishna Shrestha,
Head, External Relations and Communications Office (ERCO) and Mr.
Tenzin Rabgyal, Senior Program Officer, ERCO. The delegation later
visited AIT’s School of Engineering and Technology.
