Mr. Fields hoped this gesture would further strengthen the linkage of
Schlumberger with research and academic institutes. He hoped that AIT
students would benefit immensely from this move. Prof. Rakshit, while
welcoming the team from Schlumberger provided a short introduction on
AIT. He thanked Schlumberger for the software donation and stated that
the relationship between AIT and Schlumberger goes much beyond the
donation of software.
Dr. Nitin Vasant Afzulpurkar, Dean AIT’s School of Engineering and
Technology (SET), revealed that AIT has very strong linkages with
Myanmar and Kazakhshtan, countries which have huge energy resources. He
hoped that Schlumberger would also consider providing additional
opportunities to students of AIT. Earlier Dr. P. H. Giao, Assistant
Professor, Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering, introduced
the visitors to graduate education in the areas of oil and gas at AIT.
The AIT team also included Dr. Noppadol Phien-wej, Associate Dean SET.
Students from Geosystem Exploration and Petroleum GeoEngineering
(GEPG), and Offshore Technology and Management (OTM) Fields of Study
were also present at the MOU signing ceremony.
Mr. Wan Jasmin Wan Abbas, SIS Manager, Schlumberger revealed that AIT
is the first university in Thailand to be provided the latest software.
Later the team from Schlumberger comprising of Mr. Fields, Mr. Abbas
and Ms. Unchalee Wiboochairit, Recruiting Assistant and University
Relations Officer (Thailand, Myanmar and Vietnam) went on a short
campus tour of AIT.
