SHIATS pens agreement with AIT

Welcoming Prof. Rajendra Bihari Lal, Vice Chancellor of SHIATS, and
Prof. Mohammad Imtiyaz, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, to
AIT for the official MoU signing ceremony, AIT President Prof. Said
Irandoust called SHIATS “a very special place with a clear mission.”
Earlier this year, the president had visited the Allahabad (U.P.,
India) -based institute to initiate discussions for partnership.
President Irandoust was a special guest speaker at the institute’s
Centenary Year Special 6th Convocation.

At the signing, Prof. Bihari presented details of SHIATS, which has an on-campus
enrollment of 9000, including 300 foreign students. The university
offers 39 undergraduate programs, 101 postgraduate programs, 18 diploma
programs and doctoral programs in a number of disciplines, he
added.

The delegation later visited AIT research and Outreach Centers, and
held follow-up meetings with the coordinators of Agricultural Systems
and Engineering, Food Engineering and Bioprocess Technology, and
Agri-Business Management fields of study, as well as meeting with the
Director of the Unified Bachelor-Master Program.

Attending the MoU signing were Prof. Sudip K. Rakshit, Vice President,
Research; Prof. Nitin V. Afzulpurkar, Dean, School of Engineering and
Technology (SET); Dr. Weerakorn Ongsakul, Dean, School of Environment,
Resources and Development (SERD); Dr. Peeyush Soni, Senior Instructor,
SERD; Dr. Pritam K. Shrestha, Head, External Relations and
Communications Office (ERCO), and Mr. Tenzin Rabgyal, Senior Program
Officer, ERCO.
