Louis Berger seeks to partner with AIT

Meeting with AIT officials, he stated that Louis Berger’s first
international project was the construction of a road from Yangon to
Mandalay. The company has also been associated with ADB’s projects in
Myanmar. Dr. Feibel inquired about the scholarships being offered to
Myanmar students to study at AIT. He was keen to know about AIT’s
partners in Myanmar, particularly those involved in education and
training.

Dr. Feibel was welcomed by Mr. Olivier Drean, Interim-Head, External
Relations and Communications Office (ERCO), who highlighted the new
initiatives of AIT. Dr. Oleg Shipin of AIT’s School of Environment,
Resources and Development (SERD) provided an overview of AIT’s
partnership with various governments, particularly the United States.
He mentioned how AIT had associated with various private sector players
in ushering development in the region. Mr. Kyaw Soe Hlaing, Program
Coordinator, ERCO informed Dr. Feibel about the strong relationship
that AIT enjoys with Myanmar. He also assured Dr. Feibel that AIT would
be keen to engage with Luios Berger in its Myanmar initiative. Ms.
Tiamkare Thitithamtada, Senior Program Officer, ERCO also participated
in the meeting.

Later Dr. Feibel met the AIT President, Prof. Said Irandoust.
