Timor Leste Ambassador assures all help to AIT

At AIT to discuss the program on capacity building, the Ambassador
remarked that the embassy would do everything to facilitate the
partnership between AIT and the Ministry of Education in Timor Leste.

Welcoming the Ambassador, the AIT President Prof. Said Irandoust
stated that AIT will soon finalize the collaboration with the Ministry
of Education. AIT has already proceeded on preparations to receive
students from Timor Leste, he added. Prof. Irandoust stated that
education at AIT provides a more holistic and international approach as
compared to other national universities. The opportunities to network
with students from all across the globe are unique and unparalleled in
AIT, he added.

Responding to a question on the post-flood rehabilitation at the AIT
campus, Prof. Irandoust remarked that AIT was facing problems due to
non-release of rehabilitation funds. However, the Institute has started
the rehabilitation process, he added.

Dr. Theo Ebbers, Wetlands Alliance Outreach Coordinator, provided an
update on the latest developments in the AIT-Timor Leste capacity
building program. Dr. Ebbers stated that AIT will be receiving 22
Master’s-level students in May 2012 who will undertake a bridging
program. AIT will focus on language studies, besides teaching them
Mathematics and Science in the bridging program.

Mr. Olivier Drean, Interim-Head, External Relations and Communications
Office (ERCO) and Ms. Tiamkare Thitithamtada, Senior Program Officer,
ERCO, also attended the meeting.

Later, Ambassador Câmara visited the Career Fair organized by AIT,
where he interacted with representatives of various companies who were
present to hire AIT students. He also met two AIT students from Timor
Leste.
