Welcoming the delegation, Prof. Said Irandoust, President, AIT, said
there is a strong potential forstudent exchange between CNU and
AIT, particularly in providing internships to AIT students at Korean
companies. “These students would then emerge as brand ambassadors of
Korea when they return to their home countries,” Prof. Irandoust
remarked. Greeting the delegates, Prof. Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai, Vice
President for Resource Development, delved on the history of
cooperation between AIT and Korea.
CNU is located near Korea’s industrial hub in Changwon, and close to
1500 industries are situated in the vicinity of the University,
including global majors like Samsung, Hyundai and LG. This has also
helped CNU develop a very strong association and partnership with
industry and foster entrepreneurship. The delegation from CNU also
expressed its desire to proceed with discussions on partnering,
particularly in the field of Mechatronics and Structural Engineering.
Apart from Prof. Park, the delegation comprised of Prof. Soo Lee, Vice
President for Industry-University Cooperation Foundation; Mr. Pill Hwan
Park, Director General; Mr. Phun-Soo Ma, Chairman, Hyundai Forging
Company; Mr. Sung Yong Park, Secretary of the President, CNU. The
delegation later met Dr. Pennung Warnitchai, Coordinator, Structural
Engineering field of study, SET. They also visited the Mechatronics
laboratory. Others who attended the meeting included Dr. Juthatyip
Jongwanich of AIT's School of Management.
