Excellencies and honored guests, Trustees, Faculty, Family, Friends and
fellow graduates
At the outset, I would like
to express my gratitude for providing me an opportunity to deliver
speech from this dias, the dias from where “Outstanding student” has to
express views about journey at AIT. Thank you so much. Penury of words
exists but still would try to recall and revive learning’s of past two
years at AIT.
Two years ago, i used to
ponder about this precious moment and feel that this is not going to
come and many times felt it’s not going in good direction. Struggling
each day for getting tuned to an international environment where
literate mass come from diverse backgrounds possessing different
culture, behavior, languages and religion Adjustment to this was not an
easy task for most of us. I was truly touched by the benevolence and
unity of the colleagues out here. When we look back at those moments
today, we see that in the depths of despair and the heights of
happiness, we’ve all been together.
The modus operandi of
teaching specifically, an open book exam was a new concept for me as
the academic upbringing for me was quite different. The concept was
unfamiliar and was understood only after entering AIT schedule.
On entering the campus i
happen to meet many students wearing T shirts with one heart pasted on
it with a slogan “I love AIT”. Believe me, there is something truly
nostalgic about AIT, something amazing about making friends who
look different, who talk different which is difficult sometimes to
understand even BUT then there exists a remarkable magic at this
place, a special type of bond which is much stronger and more valuable
than any formulae we could ever have learned. This bond is not ionic
but it is just as powerful which connects us and we have been so
fortunate in experiencing this magic for our past years here. The
energy levels in each individual are fabulous which is all set to solve
the hidden equations of life ahead.
Who can forget the
devastating flood situtaion which prevailed in mid of our session
stealing away all the happening of AIT. AIT was stagnant, at a
pause.... but still the university rebounded sharply boosting the
quality of life. Thanks to all who were involved in this gesture.
There is a good reason they
call these ceremonies “Commencement exercises”. Graduation is not
the end, its the beginning of a new phase in one’s life.
Today we stand, as if before
a row of thousands doors different from each other have blossomed up
with opportunities. We have to knock at these doors and open them to
look at what lies within. On passing through some doors, we will have
to set aside fear and prejudice before we may advance. To unlock
others, we need to uphold our sense of justice and dignity. If a
door suddenly shuts before us, we should not be discouraged but instead
must look for the sudden opening of another. We must seize our future
and taking it into our own hands, do with it what we will, striving
towards excellence. We join forth now, in hope and inspiration, all of
us sharing our common legacy; all of us being proud
“AITians”.
Our time here in AIT will be
forever embedded in our hearts and would remain as a relic. The
opportunities and the motivation to utilize them given here will
certainly contribute to our growth in the future. Opportunities that
have strengthened us, will allow us to gain invaluable experience,
it was here under the guidance of our supportive faculties and staffs
that we have reached this far. They push us to our limits because they
can realize what we are really capable of even if, we ourselves are
unable to visualize it. The mentors have been an integral part of
learning stories inside classroom as well as outside. In the end,
last but not least, it’s not about quizzes or test marks. It’s about
what we have gained as person which truly matters. It’s about learning
more about us and trying to be better. Now its time to unleash the
energy in achieving our goals, the aspirations…..
We are also thankful for our
families. The past two years have presented us with lot of ups
and downs and it is great to learn that we had our families in
corner, supporting us along the way.
To summarize, I would like
to shower the inspirational lines which have always been there with me
as an acquired value in my life:
Go ahead
and get your goal
No matter
how many times you fall
Your
glory is not in never falling
But
rising everytime you fall........
The accomplishment of dreams
and goals is only possible through determination, dedication, passion
and effort. So congratulations grads of 2012.......this is our
time to shine.
