Prominent alumnus and a major donor to AIT, Dr. Yanyong Phataralaoha (IE&M ’86), Managing Director, Thai Pipe Industry Company Limited presented the donation cheque to AIT President, Dr. Eden Y. Woon as a continuation of his support to the 60th Anniversary Fundraising Campaign towards Student Exchange Scholarship Program and Updating of Student Village 1—where his future wife lived while studying at AIT. He was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Gantasiri Phataralaoha, AIT alumnus who graduated from Environmental Engineering in 1984 and their daughter, Ms. Wintica Phataralaoha.
The Student Exchange Scholarship Program that Dr. Yanyong is funding, is for AIT Masters students with Thai nationality who are employed in these 6 institutions: Provincial Waterworks Authority, Metropolitan Waterworks Authority, Royal Irrigation Department, Department of Water Resources, National Housing Authority and Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand. The scholarship is for half of the student exchange total expenses pertaining to their airfare, board and lodging.
Dr. Yanyong stated he is interested to support this Student Exchange Program for Thai students, as by studying at AIT it will also give the student an opportunity for broadening their horizons through the student exchange to a top university around the world.
AIT President, Dr. Eden Y. Woon informed that he started this Student Exchange Program about 3 months ago and as of now, AIT have signed 5 Student Exchange Agreements and more agreements are being worked out and in the pipeline handled by the Office of Advancement and Alumni Affairs.
