Prof. Alastair M. North O.B.E
The Asian Institute of Technology paid its final respects to former AIT President Prof. Alastair M. North O.B.E. as a large community on the evening of 10 July 2020, when it hosted a religious rites ceremony to pay tribute to his beloved memory. Prof. North, who was AIT President from 1983 – 1996, passed away peacefully at his home in Bangkok, Thailand on 4 July 2020.
AIT President Dr. Eden Woon represented the institute at the ceremony at Wat Bang Peng Tai in Bangkok. He was joined by Dr. Subin Pinkayan, former Chairman of the AIT Board of Trustees; Dr. Twarath Sutabutr, member of AIT Executive Committee and former President of AITAA Thailand; Prof. Mario Tabucanon, former AIT Acting President (2005); Mr. Chaiwat Kovavisarach, AIT Trustee and Chairman of the Board Executive Committee, and a gathering of senior AIT officials, faculty, staff and colleagues, students and friends of Prof. North.
