MDI, India seeks partnership with AIT

Prof. Gupta stated that MDI was the first school in India to launch a
Master’s program in Energy Management, and they are now venturing into
energy management in the nuclear sector. This program, along with
others in tourism management can act as starting points for a mutual
collaboration with AIT, he suggested.

Welcoming the visitor, Prof. I.M.Pandey, Vice President for Academic
Affairs, AIT, provided an overview of multi-disciplinary programs
offered at AIT. Joining him in the discussions was Dr. Barbara Igel,
Dean, School of Management, and Dr. Amararatne Yakupitiyage, Acting
Dean, School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD). Dr. Igel
elaborated on the new offerings including programs on Corporation
Social Responsibility, intellectual property and an MBA program in
nanotechnology. She suggested that besides student and faculty exchange
programs, research collaboration should also be initiated between the
two. Prof. Gupta, who was instrumental in fostering a partnership
between MDI and AIT earlier welcomed the suggestions, and offered to
tie-up AIT with MDI partners. Mr. Tenzin Rabgyal, Senior Program
Officer, External Relations and Communications Office (ERCO) also
attended the meeting.
