Signing the MoA with AIT President Prof. Said Irandoust, the Chairman
of the Board of TEAM Group,
Dr. Prasert Patramai, said he was glad to initiate the internship
program. He said internships at his company would provide AIT students
with invaluable hands-on work experience, and could be a gateway to a
real job in the future.
The firm, which is headquartered in Bangkok and employs over 1,000
professionals, is a regional leader in integrated consulting and
related businesses. The conglomerate is expanding across Asia, and this
growth strategy presents opportunities for talented AIT students who
perform well as interns, Dr. Prasert said at the signing ceremony in
Bangkok.
Dr. Prasert remarked that what differentiates AIT from other
universities in Thailand is the international composition of its
students. AIT’s internationality is an attractive feature for a company
like TEAM Group, which works in numerous countries around the region,
he said.
“Successful interns could well return to their home countries one day
under the name of TEAM Group,” Dr. Prasert said.
Joined at the ceremony by fellow Team Group officials and AIT alumni
Mr. Pradit Nopmongcol, Executive Director, TEAM Group; Mr. Chawalit
Chantararat, Managing Director, Team Group, and Mr. Shane Muangkroot,
Business Development Representative, the Chairman announced he would
soon be hiring more AIT graduates. “Within this month TEAM Group will
have 64 AIT alumni as employees.”
Calling the agreement a true example of university-alumni cooperation,
AIT President Irandoust remarked that the partnership could act as a
role model for engagement with other companies headed by AIT
alumni.
The president stressed that the future of higher education rests on
collaboration with the private sector, and engagement such as this are
one way to align AIT students with the skills demanded by employers.
“We are deeply proud of TEAM Group’s impact in the region, and the role
AIT alumni have played in this success,” President Irandoust said, as
he thanked the TEAM Group officials gathered to witness the
signing.
Dr. Prasert stressed the deep connection that exists between his alma
mater and the company he founded. Earlier this year, executives and AIT
alumni employees donated a total of 110,100 Thai Baht to
disaster-affected people in Japan via the AITAA-Thailand Chapter.
Previously, Dr. Prasert donated 1 million baht to the AIT Fundraising
Campaign, and he also encouraged 60 AIT alumni staff members to donate
an additional 1 million baht.
Dr. Prasert obtained his M. Eng. and D. Eng. in WRE in 1971 and 1973,
respectively. He was inducted into AIT’s Hall of Fame in 2010 for his
lifetime achievements and support to his alma mater.
