HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn presides over launch of Friends of AIT Heritage (FAITH) Foundation

FAITH Foundation, which is in the process of being registered with the cooperation of AIT alumni, originated from the Royal Seed Donation of 1 million Baht by Her Royal Highness in 2007, following which AIT formulated a Strategic Plan for a concerted 7-year fundraising drive. The campaign, which will last from 2010 to 2016, seeks to raise 1 billion Baht. The new seven-year fundraising drive’s slogan is “For the Creative Global Leaders of Tomorrow”.FAITH Foundation will fund world-class visiting scholars to conduct joint research and collaborative teaching at AIT to incubate emerging technologies. Another portion of the foundation’s proceeds will be earmarked for scholarships to top students from all corners of Asia and beyond to study at AIT.AIT President Prof. Said Irandoust remarked that the seed donation by Her Royal Highness has encouraged others to contribute donations to AIT to make dreams come true for the
Institute. The president reported that the Institute has already received contributions from alumni and friends of AIT amounting to 16.44 million Baht.

Fourteen Seed Fund Donors and other benefactors to the Friends of AIT Heritage (FAITH), who each made a donation of 1 million Baht or more, received the AIT Medal of Appreciation from HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

Foundation were as follows:

• Dr Subin Pinkayan (2M Baht). AIT Alumnus (1961) and Chairman of the SEATEC Group of Companies.

• Mr. Ashraf Habibullah (US$ 50,000 or ~ 1.5M Baht). Friend of AIT and President of Computers and Structures Inc. in the USA. He was represented at the AIT Day 2010 ceremony by Dr. Anwar Naveed, AIT.

• Mr. Kee Book Hee (1.344M Baht). AIT Alumnus (1982) and Managing Director, Frontier Bond Company, Malaysia.

• Dr. Prasert Pataramai (1M Baht). AIT Alumnus (1971) and (1973) who obtained both Master and Doctoral degrees. He is Chairman of TEAM Group of Companies.

• Mr. Peerawat Premchun (1M Baht). AIT Alumnus (1972) and  Director of TEAM Group of Companies.

• Mr. Shih-Yi George Chen (1M Baht). AIT Alumnus (1972) and Former Minister of Transportation and Communications, Chinese Taipei.

• Mr. Yen Yi Tseng (1M Baht). AIT Alumnus (1973) and former President of the Retired Servicemen Engineering Agency (RSEA') of Chinese Taipei.

• Dr Chainarong Na Lampoon (1M Baht). AIT Alumnus (1980) and President, Index International Group Co. Ltd.

• Mr. Charoen Jaturasil (1M Baht). AIT Alumnus (1986) and President of Posten Engineering Co., Ltd.

• Prof. Dr. Srisakdi Charmonman Foundation (1M Baht). AIT Alumnus (1961) and Chairman of the Foundation.

• The Family of Arthur and Katherine Chiu (1M Baht). The late Arthur Chiu was a former seconded AIT faculty member from the United States during 1966-1968. His Medal
of recognition was received on his behalf by his son, Dr. Greg Chiu.

• The Family of Dr. Za-Chieh Moh in memory of Mrs. Diana Moh (1M Baht). Dr. Za-Chieh Moh was a former AIT seconded faculty and Provost from the United States from 1967 to 1976.

• TEAM Group of Companies (1M Baht). The firm was represented by its Executive Director and AIT Alumnus (1981), Mr. Chawalit Chantararat.

• 60 AIT Alumni Staff of TEAM Group of Companies (1M Baht). The group of alumni employed by TEAM Group of Companies was represented by AIT Alumnus (1998), Dr.Surasak Taweesilp.
