Six students from Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) were awarded Deutscher Akademishcher Austausch Dienst (DAAD) scholarship certificates by Dr. Carolin Mülverstedt , Director of DAAD Information Center Bangkok and Mr. Marco Merten, Third Secretary, Press and Cultural Affairs, German Embassy in Bangkok. They were awarded the certificate at the Germany Embassy in Bangkok on 10 September 2010.
Dr. Caroline and Mr. Merten congratulated the students and hoped that
their knowledge and learning would benefit their home countries. Prof.
Joydeep Dutta, Vice President for Academic Affairs, AIT thanked DAAD
for providing support to AIT students and invited them to visit
institute’s laboratories.
DAAD not only assured AIT of support but also promised greater academic linkages with German universities. DAAD has invited AIT to apply for the DAAD study
visit program to Germany. Within this program, the DAAD supports a
group of up to 14 students and a faculty member during their stay in
Germany up to 12 days.
Students who were awarded certificates by DAAD include Mr. Vu Manh
Hoang, Mr. Nguyen Phuc, Mr. Dinh Minh Hieu and Miss Tran Thu from
Vietnam; and Miss Dimdaline Sar and Miss Pen Bovathana from Cambodia.
Currently 10 students are beneficiaries from the AIT-DAAD scholarship
program.
Ms Gisela Lerdmaleewong from Press and Cultural Affairs of the German
Embassy was present during the ceremony. Apart from Prof. Dutta, AIT
was represented by Mr. Tenzin Rabgyal, Senior Program Officer, External
Relations and Communications Office (ERCO) and Mr. Paitoon Tinnapong,
senior photographer at AIT.
