Interacting with the visiting students, President of AIT, Prof. Said
Irandoust stated that acquiring knowledge is no longer the only factor
that contributes towards success. “Young graduates need to network and
acquire skills that go beyond education,” Prof. Irandoust remarked. He
added that AIT is an institute that offers not just knowledge and
education, but also an international environment and networking
opportunities. “AIT has been able to establish itself as a top
institution and it is a unique international intergovernmental
institute,” he said.
Ms. Ann Lopez Fontanilla, Head, Student welcomed the students and
enumerated various offerings at AIT. “The fact that so many of you are
visiting AIT is a testimony to the fact that all of you have higher
ambitions,” she added. Mr. Worawaj Onnom, President, AIT Student Union
welcomed the students from various universities. Event organizer, Mr.
Bikendra Shamsher Thapa, Chairperson, AIT Student Union External
Affairs Committee, hoped that the initiative would foster friendship
between students from various institutes.
The students visited the Tsunami Wave Flume and the Xayaburi dam model
followed by a visit to AIT's School of Management. They were shown the
self-operated bicycle at Mechatronics field of study at the Industrial
System Engineering (ISE) in AIT's School of Engineering and Technology.
They also visited the Center of Excellence in Nanotechnology and AIT's
School of Environment, Resources and Development. They were provided
with a practical demonstration of the use of satellites in data
collection. The day ended with games, entertainment and the
International Food Fair.
