Jackson State University seeks AIT’s partnership

This was stated by Dr. James Samuel Maddirala, Associate Vice President
of JSU, during a visit to AIT on 25 November 2010. Dr. Maddirala also
met Prof. Said Irandoust, President, AIT, and discussed the possibility
of collaborative academic programs. Dr. Maddirala, who is the Chair,
Global-World HIV-AIDS alliance, suggested that AIT could host a
regional conference on HIV-AIDS in the middle of 2012. During this
visit to AIT, he was also accompanied by Prof. Iyyanki V. Murali
Krishna.

The JSU delegation visited AIT’s School of Management (SOM). Later
they met Dr. Stephen J. Atwood, Director, Center for Global Health and
Development, and Associate Professor (Global health), Faculty of Public
Health, Thammasat University.

Prof. Joydeep Dutta, Vice President for Academic Affairs, AIT,
elaborated on the new initiatives of the institute. He delved on the
unique geographic location of AIT. Prof. Dutta suggested that
Nanotechnology and Public Health could be two possible fields for
collaboration between JSU and AIT.

Dr. Siriwan Suebnukarn of School of Dentisty, Thammasat University
also joined the discussions. Dr. Siriwan, an AIT alumna, is actively
associated in joint research activities with AIT. Dr. Nitin Kumar
Tripathi, Coordinator, Remote Sensing and Geographic Information
Systems (RS&GIS) program, School of Engineering and Technology
(SET), suggested an integrated Bachelor’s and Master’s program between
AIT and JSU. Dr. Pritam Krishna Shrestha, Head, External Relations and
Communications Office (ERCO), stated that a joint program could be
initiated between JSU, AIT and Thammasat University. Others who
attended the discussion included Ms. Wannapa Pliansri, Coordinator, RTG
Relations Coordinator and Dr. Othniel Mintang Yila, Program
Coordinator, ERCO.
