Dr. Wisit remarked that he was “pleased and honored to be a patron to
an AIT student.” Stating that his entire career has revolved around
engineering, Dr. Wisit remarked that the scholarship was his way of
contributing towards his profession. Dr. Wisit was accompanied by the
Managing Director of WE International Consultants, Mr. Wirat
Ratanawetchasit, an AIT alumnus from Structural Engineering (Master’s,
1997).
Welcomed at AIT by President Prof. Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai, the
delegation remarked that they have chosen AIT to grant the scholarship
since the institute enjoys a strong reputation that has been built over
decades. Prof. Worsak added that he was happy at the success of his
former student Wirat, adding that AIT has “never compromised on
quality.” He also narrated instances engagement by the private sector
with AIT. Ever since the launch of this initiative, 18 private sector
entities have granted scholarships to AIT students.
Mr. Sanjeev Jayasinghe, Director, Office of Advancement, AIT, thanked
the donors and informed them of the various scholarship options
available at AIT. Prof. Pennung Warnitchai of Structural
Engineering stated that they would identify the scholarship recipient
very soon. Prof. Kazuo Yamamoto, Vice President for Administration;
Prof. Voratas Kachitvichyanukul, Dean, School of Engineering and
Technology (SET); and Dr. Punchet Thammarak of Structural Engineering
also joined the deliberations on behalf of AIT.
