UCC-Water, AIT Sign MoU
The UNEP Collaborating Centre on Water and Environment (UCC-Water), Denmark and AIT, on 9 January 2006, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to promote close relationships in order to share experiences and expertise, exchange
technological materials and other information, and develop future areas of
joint endeavors.
The MoU which was signed by Dr. Mogens Dyhr-Nielson (third from right), Senior Program Advisor on behalf of Mr. Niels H. Ipsen, Director of UCC-Water, and Prof. Said Irandoust, AIT President, serves as an arrangement to encourage mutual ties of friendship and understanding between the two parties and to further develop collaborative activities in the areas of mutual interest through education and training.
The MoU's areas of cooperation between UCC-Water and AIT includes human resources development in environmental sustainability aspects of Integrated Water Resources Management; post-graduate training in environmental aspects of IWRM; UN Water Virtual Learning Center, Regional Centre at AIT and UNEP support for achieving the IWRM 2005 targets.
UCC-Water and AIT will coordinate on their ongoing appropriate activities
and collaborate on capacity building and training in IWRM 2005 partner
network. The activities under this cooperation framework will focus on developing the curriculum for the IWRM including E-learning Course; conducting trainings, seminars or workshops under the IWRM 2005 Program; providing expertise in capacity building of national governments of partner countries
- other relevant activities.
