Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed its support to the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) during the meeting of the AIT delegation with Minister H.E. Mr. Nitya Pibulsonggram on 9 January 2007. The AIT delegation included Dr. Tej Bunnag, chairman of the board, Prof. Said Irandoust, AIT president, and Prof. Vilas Wuwongse, vice president for external relations.
During the meeting, the minister and senior officials were provided with a detailed briefing on AIT’s new directions and strategies as well as update on the international organization status and progress made in this direction. The minister and senior officials were unanimous in their support for AIT and do not see any obstacles in AIT attaining international organization status as soon as it has obtained intergovernmental organization status and the Geneva II act is promulgated. The AIT delegation expressed its gratitude to the ministry for its guidance and support and will continue to actively pursue this matter.
