AIT hosts international meet on electric supply
The International Conference on Electric Supply Industry in Transition:
Issues and Prospects for Asia will be held at the Asian Institute of
Technology (AIT) on January 14-16, 2004.
The event, a major forum for exchange of information and discussion on
electric supply industry development in Asia, will be graced by Thailand's
vice minister for energy, Viset Choopiban, who will open the conference
and Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand governor, Sitthiporn
Ratanopas, who will address the conference.
The conference is organized by AIT, in collaboration with Power Systems
Engineering Research Center, U.S.A.; the University of Technology Sydney,
Australia; and the EC-ASEAN COGEN 3 through the support of the Institute of
Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc., Asean Centre for Energy and the Greater Mekong Subregion Academic and Research Network (GMSARN).
Among the keynote presentations will be 'Market Design and System
Reliability: Lessons from the U.S. Experience' by Prof. Robert J. Thomas of
the Electrical and Computer Engineering, Cornell University, U.S.A. on January
14, and 'Frequency Linked Dispatch and Electricity Pricing' by Bhanu Bhushan, Director (operations) in POWERGRID, on January 15.
The conference also includes panel discussions and technical visits.
