Administrative Reorganization and New Appointments

The Institute is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Sanjeev Jayasinghe (right) as Director of Promotion Activities with effect from January 16, 2004. The Director of Promotion Activities will be responsible for supporting, coordinating and planning of the Institute's promotion activities.

Mr. Jayasinghe joined AIT in 1993 as a Research Associate in the EC-ASEAN COGEN Programme. He also served as Purchasing/Procurement Manager (1994-97), Alumni Affairs Coordinator (1997-98), Senior Development Officer (1998-2001), and Alumni Relations Coordinator/Assistant to the President (2001-2003). In 2003, he was appointed Promotions Coordinator in the Office of the President. Mr Jayasinghe obtained a Master of Business Administration degree from AIT in 1993. We wish him every success in this challenging position.

Under the current reorganization of the central administration, as part of the administrative reform, two new positions of Associate Registrar have been established, one responsible for student affairs and the other for community affairs. The position of Registrar is, in the interim, not being filled, with functions temporarily overseen by the Provost. The position of Dean of Students and Community Affairs is now abolished. The decoupling of the two responsibilities is rendered necessary by the increase in the number of students as well as the reinforcement of the linkage between the administration and the student union.

The Associate Registrar for Student Affairs will be in charge of student affairs. The Associate Registrar for Community Affairs will be in-charge of the inspection and quality assurance of the service operations of the Institute for the campus community, including the AIT Community School, and will also be responsible for coordinating and following up on these operations, providing ideas for improvement and upgrading of services, as well as to provide a link between the community and the administration as far as campus affairs are concerned.

The Institute is pleased to announce the appointments of Dr. Anila Sadananda (above left) as Associate Registrar for Student Affairs and of Dr. Hoang Le Tien (above right) as Associate Registrar for Community Affairs with effect from February 1, 2004
