AIT Alumnus and president of Engineering Institute of Thailand, Mr.
Prasong Tharachai today gave AIT 100 per cent credit for his success.
Speaking on the occasion of the Visit AIT Day, Mr Prasong Tharachai
remarked that success in life was built on basic knowledge acquired
from AIT. In a very well received speech interspersed with humor and
anecdotes, he urged students to apply the basic knowledge acquired by
them during their education. He greeted the AIT on its golden jubilee
year and assured his full support for the AIT in its endeavors.
Mr Prasong Tharachai completed his Masters from the School of Civil
Engineering (AIT) in 1971. He is the chairman of Project Planning
Services Co Ltd. He has been associated with various prestigious
projects like Baiyoke (I & II), Mass Rapid Transit Authority, LAEM
Chabang Port Project and Terminal Building at Suvarnabhumi Airport at
Bangkok..
The Royal Thai Government Faculty Representative, Professor Worsak
Kanok-Nukulchai, who is the Dean School of Engineering & Technology
at AIT elaborated on the scholarships and financial support offered by
the Royal Thai Government for AIT students from Thailand. Prof Worsak
delved on the mission and characteristics of AIT. He described the AIT
as the “only real international post graduate institution in Asia”.
Head of student office, Ms Ann Lopez-Fontanilla, informed about the
educational and co curricular activities within the AIT campus. She
assured students and their parents’ full support during their stay at
AIT. An introductory film on AIT prepared by the Media and
Communications Union (MCU) of the AIT was also presented. The president
of the Student Union, Mr. Shankar Shivdas Tagad elaborated on the
various activities of the Students Union. Volunteers of Student Union
later guided the aspirants through the AIT campus. At noon, a free
international lunch with delicacies from various countries was served
for the visitors.
