Background
The Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Environment Operations
Center (EOC) accepts applications from graduate or newly graduate students
from the GMS countries (Cambodia, People's Republic of China, Lao People's
Democratic Republic, Myanmar, Thailand, and Viet Nam) who would like to join the center for a 3- to 6-month internship.
The short internship will introduce the trainee to the different components of the GMS Core Environment Program and provide an opportunity to work in various focal areas, e.g., biodiversity, environment, outreach, and cross-sectoral environment linkages with tourism, energy, transport, etc., and/or build skillsets in environmental impact assessments/strategic environmental assessments, socioeconomic assessments and benchmarking, and environmental policy.
IMMEDIATE REQUIREMENT – GIS Intern, 6 person months, full time, Bangkok-based
The EOC is currently looking for a GIS Intern who will be tasked with assisting the GIS Specialist in GIS data entry, data correction, and data mining.
The candidate should be a fresh graduate from a Master's level program or
currently a doctoral student in the field of remote sensing and GIS. He or she
should have:
- Good command of ArcGIS for data entry and editing (both vector
layers and tables, and raster data) - The willingness and initiative to interact with partners for data mining
- The creativity to bring these data to EOC-usable standards.
Qualified GMS nationals will be given priority in the selection.
