In an article on “A Brief History of ICT in Thailand”, written by Hugh Thaweesak Koanantakool which was published in the Bangkok Post’s Database Section on 7 February 2007, recognized Prof. Kanchana Kanchanasut of Computer Science, School of Engineering and Technology (SET), as the “mother of the Internet” in Thailand.
The article mentioned that Prof. Kanchana Kanchanasut, the “mother of the Internet” in Thailand and has administered the .th domain since the beginning, organized a very important meeting and a training course at AIT in December 1991. According to the article, the event was important in many ways. It was the first course about Unix computer networking. It dealt with the formation of an email working group in Thailand. And the group united well and could raise research from Nectec plus some in-kind donations form IBM, DEC and HP.
