AIT graduate wins at Thailand Energy Awards 2008

At the recently held Thailand Energy Awards 2008 held on July
30, in
Bangkok, AIT alumnus Dr. Juntakan
Taweekun
(above), who graduated from the Energy Field of Study
at the
School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD),
won a prestigious award under the Special Submission Category:
Low Energy House, from the Ministry of Energy, the Royal Thai
Government.

Currently an Assistant Professor at the Prince of Songkla
University (PSU), Dr. Juntakan was recognized by her peers for her
innovative project “Low Energy House” in which she developed various
technologies for installation in low energy houses constructed at PSU,
namely: 1) radiant cooling system; 2) daylighting through light pipe;
3) electricity generation for lighting system from solar cell; 4)
demand responsive workplace lighting system; 5) wireless illumination
control for lighting system; 6) solar regenerated solid desiccant
dehumidification for a ventilation system and; 7) solar collector for
hot water generation.

Dr. Juntakan graduated twice from AIT. She first
graduated with an M. Eng. degree in 1996, and followed that up by
earning her D.Eng degree in 2003.
