On Monday, March 31, 2003 a delegation of faculty, staff and students from the School of Engineering, Tohoku University, Japan visited AIT. The group was composed of Prof. Kunio Sawaya, Chairman of International Exchange Committee; Dr. Mikiko Nakajima, Assistant Professor; Dr. Hirokazu Moriya, Assistant Professor; Mr. Tustomu Ujiie, Academic Affairs Section; Ms. Yukiko Hayasaka, Librarian and 9 students.

The visit is part of an international exchange activities. During their visit they were familiarized with the School of Advanced Technologies and the School of Civil Engineering. The delegation in return also made a presentation to AIT students and staff about Tohoku University, student life in Japan, Japanese culture, and others.
On the same day, Mr. Visoot Pongsathorn and Mr. Trevor Bull, both currently employed by the Finance Ministry of Thailand also visited AIT.
The meeting explored the possibility for AIT to host a Regulator's Forum for East Asia and Pacific.

The Regulator's Forum would function as an independent network supported by institutional members of regulatory agencies of countries in East Asia and Pacific, financial institutions such as the World Bank and ADB, and international and regional bodies such as agencies of APEC and UN.
The host will organize meetings and provides training support to member institutions. Subject matters covered by the Forum include regulations of electric supply industry, gas industry, water supply industry and transportation.
AIT would be invited to the APEC Privatization Meeting in Bangkok during June 2003.
