MPO, PWUT plan to partner AIT on disaster prevention and management
Prof. Said Irandoust, AIT President, recently welcomed Dr. Saeed Mitzamohammadi, Deputy Director General, Economic Studies and International Cooperation Bureau, Management and Planning Organization (MPO); and Dr. Nemat Hassani, Associate Professor, Power & Water University of Technology (PWUT), Head of Research Center for National Disasters in Industry from Iran, who were in Bangkok for meetings with ESCAP to discuss the setting up of a center for disaster mitigation and management in Iran. They have expressed their interest in linking with AIT by sending master's and Ph.D. students in areas pertaining to disaster prevention and management; supporting all costs for faculty and student related exchange programs; partnering in joint consultancy and sponsored projects for joint collaboration in Central Asia etc.
The visit was coordinated by Dr. Nitin Tripathi of Remote Sensing & Geographic Information Systems (RS&GIS;) field of study, School of Engineering and Technology (SET), who will follow up on the proposed areas of collaboration.
